Houston needed emergency surgery this morning in hopes to save her life. She presented this morning with a temperature of 106 (normal temp is 101-102.5) and in surgery an abscess (pocket of infection) was found in her abdomen. The cause of the abscess is unknown. The infection had leaked down to her spay site and caused the surrounding tissue to start dying. The infected tissue was removed and she currently has tubes in place to drain the puss and infection out. She will need another surgery in the next few days to close her back up. She will be receiving treatments of antibiotics, laser therapy to promote new cell growth, and more frequently around the clock.

She is very sick and her recovery is not guaranteed. The next three days will be very long and difficult.
